Animal Abuse

Be The Voice For The Voiceless: Ending Animal Abuses

By Niyati Raj

Animals, especially Dogs, are often silent. They are innocent and voiceless creatures by god. Dogs have often been considered as human’s best friends. They hold a special place in our hearts. Despite their loyalty and love, many are victims of abuse and negligence. They rely on us, for care and compassion yet many suffer at the hands of cruel people. it’s high time to raise our voices and take a stand against animal abuse.

The reality of animal abuse – Animal abuse is a harsh reality, undoubtedly many animals face everyday physical and emotional negligence. Pets are being beaten, starved and abandoned by people who can’t take care of them, which is heartbreaking.

Our responsibilities: It’s our duty to protect and take care of our fellow creatures. We must speak up against animal abuse and cruelty, and take actions to prevent it. God has given us heart and mind, the ability to think and understand. We should consider ourselves fortunate and should behave and think accordingly and make ourselves worthy. We should help them with joy and love, as they don’t have much understanding. So, here are some ways I think we can make a difference: Be gentle towards these animals- Dogs are loyal and loving animals. Treat them with kindness and love and they will return it tenfold.

Provide shelters and food for Stray dogs- Most dogs are hungry as there is little nature around to provide for them (the dark side of urbanisation). so what we can do is, we can provide shelters and food, and we can help improve their quality of life. “They don’t need much, they don’t have many demands, we only need to arrange for their meals biscuits, especially in summer, as in the scorching heat (which is increased due to global warming, whose culprits are none other than humans) they suffer a lot. Always keep fresh water in a container by your home to quench their thirst in the blazing sun. In the cold days, build a small shelter for them or simply cover them with old clothes, they need this but are unable to ask.”

Awareness programme – Spread information about ongoing animal abuses to help others understand the issue. And also if you find any Dogs or other animals then read their behaviour and try to help them instead of ignoring them.

Raise your children to be an animal lover: Teach your children to be kind and gentle with animals. Teach them not to throw stones at them. It is often found that parents used to convince their children that biting is the nature of animals. Biting is a defensive gesture of an animal, they are not meant to bite. They do it in their defence. Parents have used animals to scare their children. Encourage them and teach them to respect all living beings.

Adopt, Don’t Shop – Consider adopting a dog from a shelter or rescue organization instead of paying for expensive pets from a breeder or pet store. Choose to adopt, adoption not only saves a life but also helps reduce the demand for puppies from puppy mills.

Be a responsible pet owner – If you have a dog or any other pets, ensure they receive proper care, love, and attention. Pay more attention to them spend time and play with them.

It’s time to end the cycle of abuse and negligence towards animals. Together, we can make a difference, in the wonderful lives of animals. By spreading awareness, and supporting animals and welfare organizations. We can create a world where all animals are treated with love. Be the voice for the voiceless – Stand up against animal abuse today.
